SANSKRIT:  HALASANA

PHYSICAL-promotes strength and flexibility in all regions of back and neck; improves blood circulation; relieves tension from upper back and shoulders; relieves and eliminates indigestion and constipation; balances endocrine system

MENTAL/EMOTIONAL-relieves insomnia; enhances relaxation; develops mental poise and inner balance

ENERGETIC-increases prana to neck, upper back, and throat; stimulates nadis in stomach, spleen; intestine, heart, liver, gall bladder, and kidney

PRECAUTIONS: avoid with neck problems and during menses

KEY ALIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS: keep thighs active; raise sternum toward chin; lengthen & relax back of neck
