ABOUT JANIE ![]()
Janie has practiced meditation on and off all her life, and was introduced to yoga in 1988. Though she had always avoided exercise, she was immediately hooked on yoga because it made her feel so good. Janie’s yoga style is gentle and eclectic. She focuses on how to live better in the body, and tune in to and honor the body’s messages. She combines the things she’s learned from various teachers and traditions, with the things she continues to discover in her own practice. She teaches yoga classes and offers workshops and yoga/meditation retreats to beginners, on-going students, and yoga teachers. Janie received her initial yoga teacher certification in July, 1997, from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Quebec, Canada. She completed her advanced certification as an Eclectic Classical Hatha Yoga Instructor in December, 2004, from the Institute of Progressive Therapies, San Diego, California. She is Registered with Yoga Alliance at the Advanced 500 Hour Level, and has written for “Yoga Journal” magazine. Her professional background as a licensed social worker, & her early experience as a former nun and school teacher, have given her skills that support and enhance her meditation & yoga teaching. |
