4/6/00 - The Stephenville HS
Symphonic band will be at the UIL Concert/Sightreading Contest next week, April 12, 2000
(Wednesday). Here is the letter that was sent out to the students for their parents
this week:
To the Parents:
I hope that we will have lots of
parents come to hear the band in concert AND sightreading contest. Parents ARE
welcome in the sightreading room and if that is something you haven't ever watched at UIL,
I think you will find it really interesting and INTENSE. If you are interested in
riding the bus, please call the band hall (968-4615) and make arrangements with Mr.
Alexander
Here is our schedule:
10:00 a.m. - Load the truck.
We will leave as soon as we are sure we have everything. (EVERYONE should eat at
FIRST lunch today.)
We should be able to arrive at
Cleburne High School in time to hear North Crowley before lunch. Then you will be
given $5.00 for your lunch and we will find two or three fast food places close together
for lunch. Hopefully we can make it back in time to hear Crowley, which is the first
band after lunch. We will go to the bus to get ready after Mineral Wells performs.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT GO INTO THE HIGH SCHOOL HALLS AS CLEBURNE H.S.
WILL BE HAVING CLASSES. DO NOT USE THE VENDING MACHINES IN THE SCHOOL. A
CONCESSION STAND WILL BE PROVIDED OUTSIDE.
4:00 p.m. - You should be in
uniform, with your instrument, by the bus.
4:15 p.m. - Warmup.
4:45 p.m. - To Stage.
4:55 p.m. - Performance
5:30 p.m. - Sighreading. After we sightread, we will load up the truck, get the
ratings, and come home. Should be back by 8:00 p.m.
If anyone needs the schedule of
bands that will performing Wednesday, or if anyone has the concert band schedule, please
e-mail me at ninac@stephenville.com.
Thanks!
