1.
Todd Agnew - Grace Like Rain: So one of the perks of my new job
at Family Christian is that sometimes I get to listen to CDs before
they are released. We got a preleased full-length copy of Todd
Agnew's CD (it comes out in July) and we popped it in the store's CD
player and wow, this stuff rocks. Very easily comparable to Jeremy
Camp (and one guy thought it was Third Day), this stuff not only
sounds good, but it really speaks to me. I can't wait 'til it comes
out. I'll set up a listening station for it at the store.
2. Jeremy Camp -
Stay: Although I think I'll buy this CD before I buy Todd
Agnew's, I'll mention it second only because he's been out for
awhile. I totally dig his new single "I Still Believe" but I think
some of his really good stuff is hidden. By that I mean, he released
an album before Stay and I'd like to find one so I can legally own
it.
3. Bebo Norman:
You can't go wrong with any Bebo. I used to not care much for him,
but after seeing him live a year ago and then recently, I popped in
Big Blue Sky in the store's player, I realized I really do enjoy his
music. His new album must really be good, they play a lot of his
songs on Air1. He can rock out a bit, but his slower songs are
definitely his best, they just really speak out to God.
4. Grand
Prize: I was driving home from work one night and happened to
catch these guys as they performed live on Air1. They have an
excellent acoustic sound and I think prefer the acoustic version of
"Reveal Your Love" to the album version. Really fun guys too, I
tried so hard to win one of their albums that night, they gave one
away every 5 minutes.
5.
Switchfoot: Gasp! This isn't listed first! We had The Beautiful
Letdown in the store's player forever, so I eventually got worn out
of listening to them. Yeah, I know, weird, huh? I still get excited
if they come on the radio though.
6.
Big Daddy Weave - "Audience of One": I was recommended these
guys before they really started playing on Air1 and I didn't really
like them. Something about saxophones and rock is weird to me. But
this song is definitely good and I always end up breaking out in
song along with it when it comes on. Definitely a good worship song.
7.
Big Dismal: These guys are on Wind Up Records, alongside the
questionable faiths of Creed and the infamous Evanescence, who
recently turned their back on the Christian market. We had a lot of
these CDs in store and radiou.com reported them as good, so I DL'ed
a couple of their songs to see what they were all about. Out of the
numerous songs I downloaded, only one was legit (the others were
just loops) and it was pretty good. They sound like Creed, but a bit
more enjoyable (I don't like Creed in case you kiddos didn't know).
8. Audio
Adrenaline - "Pierced" and Lift: That new single they are
playing is off their new album. I say new, but it actually came out
in February, the same day as SF's The Beautiful Letdown came out. It
took awhile for this one to get some airplay, but it's a good song,
these guys still have some good stuff left in them. Someone also
stuck Lift into the store's player the other day and there's some
good stuff on that too. Not as cheesy as Underdog (but that's one of
my favorite albums) and still rockin'.
9.
MercyMe: Some people think they are overplayed and maybe they
are, but I still enjoy the two songs they overplay, "Spoken For" and
"I Can Only Imagine." I read recently they are from Texas, so that
makes it all the much cooler. I'm on this free trial version of
RadioMX and often they'll play MercyMe and man, that's good stuff.
10.
Pillar - Fireproof: I haven't listened to them in awhile, but
thought they deserved props since they are re-releasing their album
next week into the secular world. Here's last month post about
them: I hadn't listened to them since I bought my
brother this CD for Christmas, but I saw them at See Spot Rock and
fell in love with them again. Such a kick butt show and
totally cool people - I got to meet them afterwards! The
guitarist and I even had a conversation because he had a xxxchurch.org shirt!
