In 1870 several families from Eutah County, Alabama formed a 20-wagon train and came to Texas to settle what became the Center Grove Community. Soon after arriving the built a school, but when enrollment reached 90 students they were obliged to build a large structure. In 1986 the schoolhouse was donated to the museum by Mr. and Mrs. John B. Collier IV, and the building was moved to the museum grounds on the banks of the Bosque River. One room is furnished as a turn-of-the-century classroom; the second room is used as a community meeting space.
