In historic Erath County, Texas, The Stephenville Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and educating. The museum area currently has ten nineteenth century structures furnished with period furniture and artifacts. Some of the buildings located on the grounds are: Berry Cottage, Blacksmith Shop, Buck Cabin, Carmack Cabin, Carriage House, Center Grove Schoolhouse, Chapel on the Bosque, Cowan Cabin, and the John Tarleton Ranch House (founder of Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas).

The museum is open for tours Monday - Thursday 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays - Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. except Christmas, New Year's, and Easter.

The Chapel on the Bosque is available for weddings. Call (254) 965-5880 for reservations.

The Museum hosts two events annually. Bygone Days is held the 2nd Saturday in October and the Native & Heirloom Plant Fair is in the spring. Both events are free to the public and include concessions.

The beautiful Museum grounds are a popular backdrop for family photos.

The newest addition to the Museum is a self-guided nature trail located behind the Museum grounds along the Bosque River. Come explore nature along the Bosque along this 1/10 mile trail.
